Be In Motion is the everyday progress company.
We are fitness lovers, park runners, trainers, teachers, first responders, military members, morning walkers, pram pushers, and hard-working people from all walks of life who understand that progress comes from encouragement and putting in the work.
Thank you so much for your interest in Be In Motion, I'm Phil Hayes-St Clair.
People that know me well describe me as a business partnership coach, serial entrepreneur, and speaker.
They also know me as a raging feminist, girl dad, scientist, (former) athlete, educator and veteran.
I have seen and experienced the immense power that comes with offering encouragement.
From operating in the military, to sport, in business, in quiet and vulnerable moments to times when there is no other option but to stand tall and walk through walls.
With Ted Lasso-style belief, I deeply believe in the power of encouragement, and that's why I created Be In Motion.
We have four values - Momentum, Showing up, Encouragement and Community.
Be In Motion was born with these values in mind.
From a hunch, a stubborn one I couldn’t shake, and I’m sharing this story because maybe you’ve got a hunch of your own.
Maybe you’ve been waiting for the perfect time, data, or plan to bring it to life.
Let me assure you: progress comes from taking the first step, not waiting for perfection, and that's true for every company I've built.
Ground Zero
It all began in hospital wards.
I’ve spent time in them building healthcare services, and one thing stuck with me—the way flowers could light up a room, and not just visually.
There’s an energy shift that happens when a delivery of flowers arrives for a patient.
First comes the realisation: These flowers are for me. Then comes the next thought: Who sent them?
That 15-second window of building excitement, of being seen and cared for, was unforgettable.
The look on their face when they discovered the sender was a mix of gratitude, happiness, and disbelief.
Those flowers weren’t just a kind gesture; they were a lifeline of encouragement.
Be In Motion Takes Shape
The name “Be In Motion” came from a simple truth: progress doesn’t come from standing still.
Whether you’re running a marathon, writing a book, or getting through a tough day, momentum is everything.
And sometimes, all you need is a nudge—a little unexpected encouragement—to get moving.
With no technical expertise but a crystal-clear vision of how I wanted people to feel, I got to work.
I launched a Shopify store, hired a freelance developer, and in one week, created the first version of Be In Motion.
Here’s how it worked:
- For $10, you’d send a message of encouragement to someone who needed it.
- We’d write your message on a beautifully designed card and send it through the mail.
- When the recipient received their card, they’d scan a QR code to reveal the sender’s identity. Confetti filled their screen 🎉, and the sender was notified that they made someone’s day.
This magic inspired the recipient to send their own card, paying the encouragement forward.
What started as a simple idea quickly became a movement.
Cards were sent across countries and continents.
Companies used Be In Motion to support their teams during the chaos of COVID-19 lockdowns.
And people championed our mission of spreading encouragement.
Levelling Up
We’ve stepped things up with beautiful headwear, strong partnerships (like supporting the incredible team at Orygen), and a promise to include our Be In Motion Magic cards free with every purchase.
But more than that, today is about inviting you to join us.
Not just as a customer, but as part of the Be In Motion community.
Because here’s the thing: encouragement isn’t just something you give—it’s something you live.
It’s about showing up for yourself and others, embracing progress over perfection, and choosing to move forward, no matter what.
So, if you’ve got a hunch, a little spark of an idea you can’t shake—trust it.
Start where you are.
Call in some friends to help.
Tweak what already exists and prototype like crazy.
Momentum comes when you take the first step.
Thank you for being here.
Whether you’re sending encouragement, wearing it, or sharing it, you’re part of something bigger.
And I'm so glad you’re here.
